Vascular Endothelial growth factor is a mitogen that promotes vasculogenesis and angiogenesis. The protein functions to form new blood vessels in a maturing embryo and restore blood supply to blood vessels with compromised circulation. VEGF plays a critical role in triggering inflammation and wound healing. An excessive amount of VEGF could potentially lead to the formation of malignant tumors through angiogenesis.

VEGF-nAb is a nano-antibody that binds VEGF.  It is characterized by its small size, ~12.5kd, so 1µg of VEGF-nAb is equivalent to 10µg of a traditional antibody by weight and 5µg of a traditional antibody when considering avidity.
